First-Generation Scholarship Fund
Students like Abdi, who are the first in their family to attend college, face many unique challenges, including:
- Paying for college. College finances can be a challenge for any family, but more so for fi rst generation students who may come from lower-wage-earning families.
- Stepping into uncharted territory. Their parents are unfamiliar with college processes, so they don’t have the level of family support in making decisions and navigating their way through the many steps to get to college – and succeed once they are here.
Columbus State President David Harrison and his wife Tracy know and understand the challenges of first-generation college students. With a lead gift of $50,000, they have established the First-Generation Scholarship Fund so that first-generation students have the help they need to pursue their dream of a college education.
Please join Dr. and Mrs. Harrison and support trailblazing students like Abdi who aspire to be the first in their family to earn a college degree. Your generous gift to the First-Generation Scholarship Fund could make a life-changing impact on a Columbus State student.
